Brooklyn Riley is a breath of fresh air and positivity. This young model and content creator believes social media is the perfect place to spread kindness and help instill confidence in her growing fanbase. As a competitive cheerleader, she is one of the best in the country and is a brand ambassador for Varsity. I recently had to pleasure of landing this exclusive interview with Brooklyn.
Tell us about your work with Varsity.
I started working with Varsity last year as an ambassador. From the start, everyone from Varsity has been so kind and genuine and a pleasure to work with. As an ambassador, I would share content on my social media platforms to support and promote the brand. A major perk of being an ambassador for Varsity is the amount of free stuff I would receive throughout the year and in return I would share what I received on my social media accounts. Last year I was featured in advertisements throughout some of the biggest cheer comps and that was an amazing feeling to see myself in shops and throughout the venues. This year I was selected to also be a Fashionista and I was beyond grateful for the opportunity! I recently just came back from NYC from a big shoot for this upcoming cheer season! I met so many amazing people and made lots of new friends during that trip! Everyone from the Varsity staff was so genuine and the Fashionistas and Fashion Guys were so nice and supportive! I am extremely grateful, blessed, and excited to continue working with them this season and more to come!
Brooklyn Riley How did you get into Cheer?
I started All Star cheer when I was 5 years old. My mom had met some parents at a daycare that I was attending, and they convinced her to get me into it. The rest is history because I fell in love with it!! I quit pageants and dance to focus on cheer and it was the best decision I could’ve made.
You are also a model. What brands/designers have you worked with?
I have worked with Varsity, local boutiques, Krissy King, Elevated Faith, Seek Jesus, Halara, SMU, and Novashine. I also have modeled for print and advertisements for companies.
If you would walk for any designer who would that be and why?
I have always wanted to be a VS (Victoria Secret) model. When I was little, I would watch the models walk down the runway with the beautiful wings. I would always tell myself that will be me one day!
What is your favorite memory from all the projects you’ve worked on so far?
My first runway show! It was such an amazing experience and I just felt so comfortable and confident when I was on the runway. I felt like I was at home.
What is your inspiration for your social media content?
My inspiration for my social media content is to spread positivity and build confidence in girls my age or younger. Social media is a great way to help others and one small positive comment or act of kindness can change someone’s day! You never know what is going on in someone’s life and just a simple kind gesture or building someone’s confidence can make a difference. I started out on Instagram about 7 years ago when my mom started my account. Through the years I have met so many people who have actually told me that they looked up to me and that I’ve guided them in some way. Whether it was fashion, God, or cheering them up when they were down.
Fun Question– What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, my boyfriend, and my friends. It’s important to spend quality time with them and have some downtime for me. With the cheer season starting plus trying to model I forget sometimes to take care of myself and also make time for my loved ones. So, when I have that opportunity, I cherish every moment!
