What Stranger Things Season 5 Is About
In the previous season’s final episode, it was revealed that the creature wasn’t defeated — it returned, stronger and hungrier for revenge. The kids of Hawkins knew this fight wasn’t over, and Season 5 picks up right where the battle left off. This time, Hawkins faces a full-scale war against Vecna, with new plot twists, mysteries, and secrets from the Upside Down slowly unfolding throughout the season.

Stranger Things season 5: Netflix Crash & Fan Reactions

Netflix rolled out the first four episodes on December 27, followed by two more episodes on December 25 as part of a holiday special drop (yes — out of order, but officially released).
That leaves two final episodes still unreleased, which logically complete the season’s eight-episode structure.

Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 1: The Crawl (Volume 1)
Stranger Things season 5 continues the story from the last part. As we know, the fight was not stopped. Will Byers can feel that Vecna is not dead and he is coming, but they were prepared, they are ready to fight. So let’s start. At the start of the first episode, the scene starts with a flashback to 12th December 1983, where Will Byers hides himself in his camp tent in a forest of the upside-down world, and suddenly a demogorgon chases him. Will Byers runs towards the jungle and climbs to a tall tree to escape, but demomogan sense his fear very quickly and again chase him. Demogorgon catches Will Byers and takes him to Vecna. Vecna held him with his multiple roots, covering the entire body, and one thick root entered Will Byers’s mouth.
He sent some particles of himself into Will Byers’s body to make a connection. Later scene shifted to the present day, 3 December 1987, in Mike’s home, where we saw Holly, Mike’s younger sister, who looks at the window, and there is a mysterious identity over there which we can’t see properly, she waves at him with a cute smile. After that, we came to know Joyce Byer and his two sons, Mike and Jonathan, were also living at Mike’s home. In this scene, we can see that Mike’s parents don’t feel happy, because the house was full of people and they don’t feel comfortable, but they can’t do anything because their kids were good friends.
After that, they all go to their work, and Mike, Holly, and Byers will leave for their school. The scene shifted to a radio station where Robin is now a radio jockey on a show, and Steve is also there to help her. He plays background music and taps. When Robin starts the radio, she tells about Hawkins’ situation. She said now Hawkins is safe, and the army is there to protect the whole city from that. We came to know that most of the people leave the city in season 4 when all 4 doors of the upside down opened, the city was cracked in the middle and divided into 4. The army covers all the areas, and when people want to go outside of the city, they have to give them a letter. The army gave a special identity to specific persons for item delivery. They covered all 4 crakes with a metal shield, so from that we can guess the danger and tight security. Robin says all of this on her podcast. Suddenly, a technical issue occurred, and her podcast was stopped.
She thinks maybe be army was upset because she said something about them. To fix that, Steve calls Dustin, scene shifts to school, where Dustin behaves a little rudely because of Eddy’s death. He rudely denies Steve’s request to help but gives a hint to fix the issue. Dustin always wears a Hellfire t-shirt as to tribute to Eddy, but other children at school don’t like that, especially Jason. Jason bullied Dustin into not wearing the t-shirt, but Dustin taunted him. Suddenly, Lucas, Mike, and Will arrived and saved Dustin. Later, for revenge, Dustin picks a poisonless snake and puts it in their locker. Scene shifted to Elleven, where she is running from the army. After chasing her, they catch Elleven, but it was not her they escaped. After some time, we saw Hopper and Joyce were also there. It was a training for Eleven to make her stronger, and she really became stronger than in the previous season. Now, she can handle things easily. Well, this scene indicates that if Eleven became strong, then obviously the villain, meaning Vecna, is also stronger than in previous seasons.
Let’s come back to the story. Eleven always calculates the time when she is doing this training. This time she made a new record, but she is not happy, she wants faster. We saw in the previous season army wanted Elleven for their mysterious research, so they were always searching for her. Scene shifted to the Hawkins border, actually, they made very tight security; that’s why they have to cover all the areas with walls and wire. Also had an army base at the Hawkins lab, where the upside-down door is stable. Murray arrived with his truck. He is doing a delivery in Hawkins, but secretly he delivers items to our heroes, whatever they want for their fight, yeah, guys, the fight is continuing, and they are all ready for it. The scene shifted to a radio station where Nancy and Jonathan were also there, and they helped Robin and Steve solve the technical problem. They find a manual, and of course, we know Nancy is so smart that she finds the solution.

They came outside, and Nancy told them to fix this we need to climb the tower, and there is a button type something which we have to on. After that, Steve said that he could do that. Actually, here we can feel that Steve has some feelings for Nancy, and this thing Jonathan saw too, then Jonathan also insists on doing that, we can clearly see a spark between Steve and Jonathan for Nancy. They both climb and fix the problem, but when they look down, Nancy and Robin are not there. They both got down and saw there Murray with Nancy and Robin. Murray delivered the item like a gun, bullets, etc. Here also Nancy noticed that Murray had arrived earlier because the delivery had to be on next day.
So he explained the main thing that the army has a plan to do something big because they had ordered a large amount of items, so the gate is now reopened. He also mentioned the time. They all run to the radio station again, and Robin starts the podcast and tells all this information to her team secretly. From the podcast, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Eleven, Hooper, and Joyce came to know that today is the reopening of the gate, and they have to copy their plan today. Scene shifted to school, where the bully opened his locker, and he found a snake, and was scared, and let me remind you that it was placed by Dustin surely. Later, Dustin visits Eddy’s grave. He found that someone had written something on the grave with blood, and then he found his snake dead near the grave.
He understood that the blood that was present on the grave was the snake’s blood, and then the same boys came and beat Dustin. After that, all the kids reached to radio station where Robin, Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve were present except Dustin. On the other side, Hooper, eleven, and Joyce are also ready with their plan. So the plan was simple, they knew today one batch of army will go into the upside-down world, and Hooper will follow them by secretly sitting on their truck, and Steve and Jonathan will track with their super duper truck. They know the root of the army, so they easily track in their world. For now, they only want to know about the secret plan of the army and officers.
They also want to know whether Vecna is dead or not, because till now, Will Byers has not seen any vision about him. So this was the plan, which starts at night. The scene shifted to Will Joyce, who had a vision like the sky was moving round and round. At that time, they didn’t get any hint about it, but it indicates that Vegan returns. Sence shifted to Holly’s teacher, where she saw Holly talk in the air, meaning there is no one, and she decided to complain about it to her parents.
As the audience, we know there is a miserable identity who talks to Holly, but who he is, we don’t know for now. They all start their plan, Hooperr reaches the truck, and Jonathan and Steve track him. Suddenly, a demon chased them and hit all the army men, including Driver, but our hero Hooperr escaped from there safely. On the other side, Will told everyone that in the vision he saw Nancy’s house. Nancy and Elven run towards Nancy’s house because they know what happens, if you remember, Vecna already told Nancy about this to Nancy in the previous season. Scene shifted to Holly’s room, where suddenly the lights flickered and a demomorgan arrived. So, guys, here is the ending of episode one, “The Crawl”.
