NY Weekly Post Chats with Victoria Pousada

Victoria Pousada is an actress and model residing in New York.  Her passion for her craft is evident in everything she does whether it’s strutting down the runways as a model or wowing us on film with her acting prowess. Victoria lets nothing stand in the way of living the life that she was destined to live.  I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Victoria to see what she is working on as well as get insight into what led her down this path.

Tell us what you are working on now.

I’m auditioning for a major feature film that will be shooting in The DMV, as well as auditioning for commercials with major brands at bare minimum thrice a week! – Shoutout to all my agents! – The industry is experiencing a slow-down right now so I’m just pushing through it, submitting internationally to projects, and working on networking as well as upping my materials.

What do you look for in a film role?

I look for a depth of character, if I can have fun with it, and how it will affect my career. Is it something I have leeway to experiment with? Is this character missing from my credits? Will it allow me to show skills I may have neglected to display? Is this role also even right for me?

How did you get started acting?

My parents put me in a local play in Elementary School. I played Tess in Annie, and my one line gave me such bad stage fright that I got hives during rehearsal and my Tia Carmen had to pick me up. She was not pleased.

But it encouraged me to face my stage fright and I continued acting in local opportunities and classes like Denise Bessette’s Acting Workshop for Young Women and attending the NYSTEA conference in middle school.

What has been your favorite role so far?

A maid! The footage hasn’t been released yet because production is currently applying to film festivals. But in this short Merlion, directed by Michael Tay, I play a small part as a Spanish-only-speaking maid chatting with her coworker. It brought me back to how me and my second Mother Mercedes (the Ecuadorian woman who raised me) and I would just spend days Chismeando while cleaning.

What was your favorite memory from all the projects you’ve worked on so far?

Filming with the cast and crew of #Stressed, directed by Kobina de Graft-Johnson. It was such a professional production, everyone was kind and fun, the set design was immaculate, the music was on point… We were filming a party scene and being a bit of a party girl myself I had a blast.

Fun Question– As an actor, if you could work with anyone alive or dead who would it be and why?

Betty White! I was so sad to hear about her passing. She was such a progressive, positive, and heartwarmingly hilarious person with decades of experience. I feel I could learn so much from her if she was still with us.

Where can we follow you on social media?
