Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani continue to have a lovely harmony. The power couple’s most recent duet, “Purple Irises,” was launched on Friday. The No Doubt Rocker, 54, and the country music singer, 47, speak about love in the song, evidently thinking back on their romance.
She sings, “But if somebody walks along and tries to / Love you like I do / Don’t know what I’d do / Don’t want to lose you,” acknowledging that she has never experienced love like this. We’re selecting purple irises right now.”
Naturally, this isn’t the first time Stefani and Shelton have collaborated artistically. “Nobody But You” and the festive smash “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” were among the songs they released in 2021 and 2017, respectively.
After initially becoming friends as The Voice coaches in 2015, Stefani and Shelton tied the knot in 2021. This weekend during the Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate event in Las Vegas, they are scheduled to perform the song live for the first time.
Stefani described her connection with Shelton to PEOPLE last year. “He’s changed my life… when I started dating Blake, that’s when I felt at home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m intended to be, with this guy,” Stefani said.
It simply transpired so quickly, which is my ideal scenario. We’re all quite enthusiastic, but we haven’t really thought out how we’re going to do this yet,” she said to PEOPLE in October. “And honestly, I think that just seeing how ecstatic the fans are is enough to make the internet explode. It’s motivating us.
